At A Peace Summit in Egypt, Pakistan’s PM interrupts Trump, Then Stuns The Room By Calling Him A Global Peacemaker
Recently, global leaders gathered in Egypt for a ceasefire summit aiming at the reconstruction of Gaza. The summit focused on Trump’s return to Middle East diplomacy after his re-entry to the white house.
Everything was professional until Pakistani PM Mr. Shahbaz Sharif surprised everyone. He appeared suddenly on the stage when Mr. Trump was delivering keynotes. Mr. Trump paused briefly and then resumed his speech. It created an awkward but amusing situation for the summit attendees.
Protocol Breach and Praise
Shrif’s mistimed appearance created a momentary discomfort and confusion, sparking mixed reactions. Social media users dub the move “classic Shahbaz,” while Pakistani media describe it as “embarrassing but harmless.”
However, Trump praised Mr. Sharif, stating that “Prime Minister Sharif of Pakistan, and I have to say, my favorite Field Marshal from Pakistan, who is not here, but the Prime Minister is here.”
While all the other leaders were silent, Italy’s prime minister Giorgia Meloni reportedly chuckled at the interruption. However, everything was lighter and amusing, and summit organizers didn’t issue any formal reprimand.
A Bold Nomination
His remarks regarding Trump later overshadowed Shrif’s act. Commending Trump, he said that “President Trump is a man of peace. His leadership has prevented a nuclear catastrophe between India and Pakistan.”
He further added, “I hereby nominate President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.” Regarding Pakistani stance on Gaza, he stated that “Pakistan stands firmly with the people of Palestine. We support a permanent ceasefire and the rebuilding of Gaza.” he concluded that “This summit is a turning point for the region. We must not let this opportunity slip away.”
He called mister trump “a stabilizing force in South Asia”. Trump responded, saying both are “great me” and further emphasized shared commitments between both countries. It seems, in Trump’s second term, U.S.-Pakistan relations are going to warm.
Besides Shrif, some other leaders, including Giorgia Meloni, praised Trump. She said, “I wish to thank President Trump for relentlessly seeking an end to the conflict in Gaza and the mediators, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.”
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi expressed his thoughts, stating that “This is a unique, perhaps last, historic opportunity to achieve a Middle East free of anything that threatens its stability and progress.”
What the Moment Means for U.S.-Pak Relations
There can be no clear stance on how the U.S sees relations with Pakistan. At the same event, Trump stated that “India is a great country with a very good friend of mine at the top, and he has done a fantastic job. I think that Pakistan and India are going to live very nicely together.”
Besides this, there is a long history between America and Pakistan of being close and suddenly parting ways multiple times. The current U.S alignment towards Pakistan is more than friendly; it’s a political interest. Time will show what’s behind the curtain.
