UN-approved ‘stabilisation force’ could be key to post-war Gaza, in a shift away from US-Israeli control
After a trump lead peace deal and ceasefire between Gaza and Israel, a new model is going to be launched by the United Nations for Gaza recovery. The UK, France, and the US remarkably drafted this UN Security Council resolution. The purpose of this resolution is to authorize a stabilisation force for post-war Gaza; however, this force will be different from all previous peacekeeping missions of the UN. It is modeled on Haiti’s 2023 deployment led by Gaza.
The US brokered Gaza ceasefire’s primary aim was Israeli troop withdrawals from Gaza and the release of historical prisoners from both countries. UN experts warn that peace must not “come at the expense of justice, accountability, and sovereignty”.

Proposal Details and Strategic Implications
Previously, all Gaza-controlled missions were taken by only Israel and the United States. However, this time is the first time in history when the United Nations is going to build a multinational force.
UN Secretary-General said “The ceasefire and hostage release deal is a desperately needed breakthrough that must mark the beginning of a new chapter, one of peace, justice, and accountability.”
Instead of the typical U.S.-Israel formula, this force will also include forces from Arab countries and willing international contributors. According to this proposal, all the coordination of logistics will be the responsibility of Britain and France.
Last year, the arab league officially called for a UN peacekeeping force for Palestine. They stated, “We call for international protection and peacekeeping forces of the United Nations in the occupied Palestinian territories until a two-state solution is implemented.”
Further added that “The Israeli obstruction of ceasefire efforts must end. The time has come for a neutral force to protect Palestinian civilians and support peace.” Now, Morocco, the UAE, and Egypt are also willing to contribute their troops, but at the cost of US recognition of Palestine as a state first.
The UN peacekeeping force’s mandate will include preventing Hamas’ resurgence. It will support the local governance in every way while ensuring a speedy infrastructure rebuilding in Gaza. They will protect the citizens, especially from any Israeli reattacks.
Regional and Global Reactions
French Pascal Confavreux stated that “Such a force needs a UN mandate to ensure legitimacy and encourage international contributions. France and Britain are working closely with the United States to finalize the resolution.”
Trump said, “This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed-upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.”
Morgan Ortagus emphasized that “The United States votes against this resolution. We believe peace must be negotiated, not imposed.”
People want to see peace equally in both countries. Palestine is a separate state, and we all know the history of how Israel grabbed everything from it. Without giving what Palestine actually deserves, there will be no peace at all. Israel ignores even basic human rights when it comes to its political interests.
It’s true that Israel is a dominating country, well structured, advanced, and has a good economy, but it doesn’t allow a complete moral collapse. Gaza suffered for over two years, and we saw it. Now, they need ultimate peace, and as human beings, we should support it in every way we can.
